How do you define educational equity?
Educational equity means ensuring that every child—regardless of their background, zip code, language, ability, or life circumstance—has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed and thrive. As an elementary school principal, I see equity as removing barriers and creating systems that recognize and celebrate each student’s unique strengths and needs. It’s not about giving every student the same thing, but about giving each student what they need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Equity is at the heart of everything we do—it guides our instruction, shapes our school culture, and ensures that all of our students have a fair chance to reach their full potential.
