How do you define educational equity?

Educational equity is the practice of leading with an equity-focused lens to create an inclusive learning environment where every student—especially those who have been historically marginalized—feels valued, capable, and empowered. It requires addressing systemic barriers and shifting school and district culture to achieve sustainable change. Equity in education means fostering a sense of belonging, ensuring that all students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. This work involves engaging families, communities, and educators in a shared commitment to student success. I firmly believe that every child is "one caring adult away from changing their narrative."
