How do you define educational equity?
Educational equity means ensuring that every student has access to all aspects of education, including the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed, regardless of their ethnicity, socioeconomic background, learning abilities, or language proficiency. It’s about recognizing that each student starts from a different place and may need different levels of support to reach their full potential. Equity is often confused with equality, but the two are not the same. While equality implies giving every student the same resources, equity focuses on providing each student with what they specifically need to thrive. True educational equity requires a commitment to understanding and addressing these individual needs to create a fair and inclusive learning environment for all.
